Puerto Galera | A Piece of Paradise

The month of May has always been a double celebration for us--
because of Mother's day, and at the same time, my mother's birthday.
If last year, we celebrated it with adventurous spirits at Tagaytay,
this time we decided to just chill out at Puerto Galera.

Since we are on a tight budget, we checked out Metrodeal for travel promos.
Fortunately, we found one which costs P1450 per person, for 3D 2N accomodation at El Canonero Resort.
(click here to see the whole package)

Tip 1
Check the validity of your vouchers!
Its very hard to differentiate scams from "Real deals."

We left Manila, Saturday at 6:30am aboard a Ceres Bus (along Buendia Corner Taft Avenue).
It was a chilly morning, and we were hoping it wouldn't rain.

After almost two hours, we arrived at the Batangas Port.

Upon arriving, a lot of boatmen will come and assist you on which shipping line to choose.
But I suggest you just follow the signs.
It will lead you to the payment area, where you can choose from a lot of different shipping lines.
They do not follow the given schedule, because they are really after reaching the total capacity of the boat.

Tip 2
If you are going to Talipanan Beach, take the Gallerian Lines,
because they are the only shipping line that docks at Talipanan Beach.

Please take note that there is a separate fee for Environmental Fee, and Insurance Fee.

Puerto Galera is further divided into three islands: White Beach, Sabang Beach, and Talipanan Beach.

White Beach, and Sabang Beach are for party people. People who want to enjoy the night life.

In contrast, Talipanan Beach, being isolated, is for the couples and families who are looking for peace and quiet.

Since we didn't know that Gallerian also docks at Talipanan, we got off the boat at White Beach.
Then,  we rode a tricycle going to Talipanan Beach. It was a 20-minute ride which costs Php 150.

This was what greeted us upon entering the resort.

It is not that big or grand, but it is very relaxing.

This is the tip of the island.

One of the activities was Parasailing.
We didn't try it because it  was a bit expensive, but I think it would be worth it.

For our first activity, we went Kayaking around the area.

Theses were the corals and algae growing on one part of the beach.

And of course, what other way to enjoy the silence, than to sleep. :)

Another activity we did, was to visit a well-known falls --

... the Tamaraw Falls.

From Talipanan, it took us about 2 hours to reach the falls.

According to our tour guide, the name was derived after some locals saw Tamaraws grazing near the falls.
But now, they can no longer be seen, after some hunters were reported to be shooting the said animals. :(

You can take a dip at the bottom of the falls. :)

It's a bit scary at first, but the water is actually cool and clean.

There is store nearby where you can have your lunch cooked.
They serve Inihaw na Bangus, Inihaw na Liempo, and Ensaladang Taalong.

It was a tiring 2-hour-tricycle-ride, but it was worth it! :)

On our way home, we saw some goats by the road.

This was the dinner at El Canonero.

It was authentic Italian dishes. :)

The meal was affordable and very delicious.
The servings were large too. :)

My mother taught us how to skip rocks. :)

The locals also have these boards for rent.

A stray dog.

And of course, before leaving, we checked out some souvenirs.

My brother and I showing off our souvenir shirts.
Actually we are imitating mom's poses. :)

And there you have it! :)

Hope you get a chance to visit this piece of paradise in the Philippines!:)

And don't forget to share your story.
